UCP is committed to maintaining donor confidence and trust, and thereby adheres to the Standards for Charity Accountability as posted by the Better Business Bureau when processing and maintaining donor personal information. The following describes the collection, use, privacy, review and security of said information:
1. UCP collects personal donor information to include names, postal and e-mail addresses, phone and facsimile numbers, billing information, and donor history.
2. UCP will use personal donor information for the purpose for which it was submitted, such as to process donations and payments, reply to inquiries, provide requested services and updates, and distribute thank you and/or tax letters, event notifications and donation opportunities.
3. No personal information except for name and/or business will be shared in donor recognitions. Acknowledgements will only be made public when anonymity is not specifically requested in writing, through email, or on the donation response card or check before or at the time of the gift. UCP will not share or sell personal donor information to outside entities and will only release said information if required by law or governmental proceeding.
4. Personal donor information is maintained at the UCP Training Center and accessible only by staff designated to handle contributions and finances. All UCP employees are required to sign a Confidentiality Statement per UCP’s Confidential Information policy. UCP’s vendors and contractors with access to personal information are also bound to adhere to this policy by signing a Contractor Confidentiality Agreement. Donations paid by credit card are immediately processed, and the credit card information is not retained by UCP. All other donor information is password protected and saved electronically on a secure server at the UCP Training Center and backed up on a secure cloud system maintained through the agency’s IT contractor.
5. If a donor has any questions or updates concerning their personal information on file, the donor can contact UCP Administration, 256-859-4900. Any concerns about compliance of the UCP donor privacy policy should be directed to the CEO or CFO at the same phone number.
