The H.E.A.R.T.S. (Help Emergency and Respite Treatment Service) program is designed to provide respite care for families of children with special needs up to age 19. A voucher system allows parents to secure a caregiver of their choosing with payment by voucher reimbursement. This program enables parents to run errands, have a date night, or participate in other activities while getting a short break from caregiving responsibilities. H.E.A.R.T.S. also offers parent trainings on various topics, including First Aid and CPR. Funded by the Alabama Department of Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention/Children’s Trust Fund.
